Water Care Treatment Technology

Flyingfish

GREG are pleased to announce our next event for 2026 will be on Thursday 30th of July, from 5:30pm, with a technical presentation followed by a two course dinner.

Presenter:

Pamela El Jbeily (BEng, MEng, RPEQ, MIEAust, CPEng).

Pamela, a qualified process engineer and Chartered Professional Engineer is currently the Business Development Manager at IXOM Watercare. Pamela has over 18 years of experience in the water treatment industry and has been involved in the design, commissioning and operation of numerous water and wastewater treatment plants, with particular expertise in membrane and ion exchange technologies.

Topic

A presentation on how new technology is deployed to bring us good quality portable water we all take for granted. Trihalomethanes (THMs) are formed as disinfection byproducts when chlorine or other halogen-based disinfectants react with naturally occurring organic matter (such as decaying vegetation, algae, or humic substances) in water. THMs are more than a compliance challenge - they are a public health issue. Pam will present how THMs are formed, the factors that drive their production, and how regulations compare across Australia and internationally. Pam will showcase proven IXOM solutions, including MIEX® resin for preventing THM formation and providing practical pathways for utilities to proactively improve water quality, reduce risk, and stay ahead of future regulatory changes.

More details about the CSIRO MIEX® water purification process can be found here.

After Pamelas presentation there will be a two course dinner with drinks at bar prices
